I just reinstalled Vista on my Mac Pro’s Boot Camp drive (it was throwing temper tantrums and screaming for a Windows Update that hasn’t even been released yet), and I don’t think that I have ever visited any sites in IE7 besides firefox.com and apple.com/safari. Before wiping it from the Quick Launch bar, I figured I would try IE7 on some sites that matter (i.e., not MSN.com before installing browsers that work.
I almost can’t believe it, but all the web designers and developers I pay attention to are right. IE7 breaks something important in nearly every one of these sites. HTML gets gunked up when editing Tumblr entries, and Twitter’s logo disappears from the top of its site when logged in.
After all these years and all the criticism, how can Microsoft still get the Internet so horribly wrong?
Well, it’s not like they get the rest right, isn’t it?
Makes you wonder why the hell we even care to use windows.
(Probably the answer is that you have to poop money for everything else.)
